August is national catfish month! The month of August was designated by congress in 1988 to honor the hard work of America’s catfish farmers. Catfish are raised in pure freshwater ponds and fed a nutrient-rich diet of floating grain pellets. The vast amount of U.S. farm-raised catfish comes from the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas. Farming catfish is also an eco-friendly practice and even eliminates the “fishy” taste found in other varieties of fish.

If you find yourself craving catfish this month, Quaker Valley Food’s has you covered. We offer a variety of different catfish options!
