Today, July 19, is National Hot Dog Day! While it is a type of sausage culturally originating in Germany, the hot dog (otherwise known as the frankfurter, frank, or wiener) is a classic American food. It’s enjoyed all over the country in a variety of ways. Over the years, it has become particularly associated with baseball, another American classic. It is enjoyed year-round, but is especially popular during the summer months.
July is designated as Hot Dog Month, with Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest hosted every July 4. The current record holder of the contest ate 73 hot dogs in 10 minutes! The hot dog is celebrated in several other ways around the country throughout the month of July. In Philadelphia, we celebrate National Hot Dog Month with events like Hot Dog Crawls, Hot Dog Safaris, cook offs, and free lunches. It’s easy to see that the hot dog is very much loved!
Here at QVF, we offer hot dogs from a variety of vendors including Bar-S, Hatfield, and McCormick. Contact your sales rep to celebrate National Hot Dog Day the right way!
