When All the World is Irish!

In a little over a week, all the world is Irish; at least on St. Patrick’s Day! March 17th is celebrated all around the world as the feast day of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The reason the day is celebrated on this date, is because it is believed that it is the date of his death. Saint Patrick was a fifth century missionary who was also a bishop in Ireland. Legend has it that he was kidnapped by pirates in his youth from Roman Britain, the place of his birth. After escaping six years later, he returned to his homeland to preach Christianity to the pagans that lived there. One interesting fact regarding the day: Perhaps the one beer most associated with Ireland is Guinness stout, referred to by the Irish as The Black. On Saint Patrick’s Day, the consumption of The Black is three times that of the average day.

Take a look at what the Irish actually eat on Saint Patrick’s Day, then pour through our catalog to see how we can help with your celebration. Slainte!
