National Sausage Month!

National Sausage Month is observed in October. The modern English word for Sausage comes from the Latin word “salsus,” which means salted. Sausage dates all the way back to 8^th Century BC, but National Sausage Month was founded in 1994 by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.

Sausages are great to enjoy all year round, but there is something about eating a sausage in the fall that makes it even better. Sausages are also perfect for tailgating during football season. They are easy to throw on the grill and can be enjoyed in minutes. Sausage can be found in many restaurants all over the world and is so versatile that you can eat it for breakfast, lunch or dinner! There are different types of sausages with different ingredients depending on what culture it originated from. For instance, dried sausage comes from Italy, Kielbasa is from Poland and bratwurst comes from Germany. The difference between each type of sausage is the seasoning and the meat.
