National Sandwich Month!

August is national sandwich and panini month! For centuries, people have been putting meat in between two slices of bread. However, it wasn’t until the late 18th century that the sandwich we know today was born. Legend says, in 1762 the late John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich (1718-1792), once spent 24 hours straight at a gambling table with no refreshments. He demanded the casino cook prepare him a meal that would not interfere with his game. The cook presented him with slices of beef and cheese between two slices of bread, achieving a quick and convenient meal that would soon be a staple to many across the world.
