Well, last week we celebrated the fruitcake, traditionally given out around the holidays. Sometimes it is well received, sometimes it is not so well received. And for those of you who enjoy giving much more than receiving when it comes to fruitcake, today is your day! This day was supposedly born from the fact that people look for a way to unwind at the end of a stressful holiday. And what better way to unwind than throwing that fruitcake that (for all you know) has been re-gifted more times than you can count.
Yes, it is an unusual “holiday.” It is believed to have started in 1995 in Manitou Springs, Colorado. It began as a competition that included laurels for those who could throw it the highest, and for those who could throw it the farthest.
