Baseball is Back!

Play Ball!  Opening Day is finally upon us, and people all across the country are taking “sick days” to make their way to Opening Day games with dreams of a World Series birth.  The NL East had a busy offseason with the Mets acquiring Edwin Diaz and Robinson Cano, and the Nationals signing veteran pitcher Patrick Corbin.  With that being said, no move is bigger than the Phillies signing Bryce Harper to a MASSIVE contract.  The Phillies have not given fans anything to be excited about since 2009 and the locals are hyped, to say the least.

Baseball games are full of tradition.  The ceremonial first pitch, the National Anthem, and the 7th inning stretch are just a few, but who can forget about the ballpark food?  The most popular food at a ball game is the hot dog!   Hot dogs have been a game day tradition since the late 1890’s.  A European Immigrant decided to sell these tasty treats in the baseball stadium he owned, the home of the St. Louis Browns, who are currently known as the Baltimore Orioles.  Since then, it has been a staple of all baseball games.  Even with the developments of stadium food, the hot dog is still the most popular.  Whether it is the low price or the nostalgic feeling, hot dogs look to continue being a game day tradition.
