The first modern-day Olympic Games began in April 1896. The International Olympic Committee chose Athens, Greece, as the host city to commemorate the ancient Greek tradition of the Olympiad. That first year, 241 male athletes from 14 countries participated, with America winning the first modern-day Olympic medal and taking home the most wins.
Throughout the years, more and more nations have joined the Games and the Olympics have become an event where countries come together to celebrate one another. To represent ethnicities around the world, we encourage everyone to eat foods that are traditional from each country participating in the Olympics. Quaker Valley Foods provides food that is geared towards most of the ethnicities represented. Access our full line catalog and take a look at all that we offer!
